Pompey the Cat, Soldered Picture

This wee water color painting, printed out onto water color paper is one that I love so very much. The original was done in the year 1817 by Hannah Crowninshield. I have merely printed it out and framed it in soldered silver to which I have blackened for the aged effect. My little rendition measures roughly 3 inches x 4/34 inches. I've added a black ribbon to it.

This grungy little cookie cutter cloth doll is my interpretation of one that might have survived decades under the porch or up in the attic. She is a sweet little 10 inch doll wearing a vintage apron, and very aged attire. Her face is embroidered and her hair is drawn on as though a Mama lovingly made her for her little girl. This style of cloth doll is also known as a pancake doll.

Tess is a maché-head, cloth body doll made to represent the Queen Anne's of the 18th century. This model has been featured in the film Felicity by Warner Brothers. Emma is my reproduction milliner's model. Her head, forearms and legs from the knee down are maché. Her torso is cloth as are her thighs and upper arms. Emma is a 15 inch doll. She is aged and so is her attire. Milliner's models did not model hats. They came from millinery shops of the 1700's, and the word millinery stems from the a word for a thousand, which means these were department stores with thousands of items. Milliners models according to some doll experts were playthings only.
